The Brutal Cube Is Not Just A Concrete Flowerpot,
It’s A Piece Of Architecture

ABOUT

Åsa Råman

Someone said that ”Architecture is simply Art we live in” and the designer Åsa Råman could not agree more. As long as she can remember she always loved good architecture and beautiful surroundings.

Growing up at the Ekerö islands outside Stockholm Åsa used to spend her time in the parental home making yet another redesign of her room. Already as a young girl she found creative joy and the passion for interior design came early.

Fast forward ten years and Åsa found herself graduating as a Civil engineer in Architecture. During the first years of her professional life she worked as a property developer flipping garrets into exclusive attics in the city of Stockholm.

The Story

In 2018 the designer behind ” A piece of Arch” Åsa Råman moved into the building Innovationen, Norra Tornen in Stockholm Sweden. It was new construction and she had been waiting for years. Walking into the new apartment was a dream come true.

The architecture of Norra Tornen is very characteristic with an alternating pattern and pixeled expression signed OMA. In close up the ribbed concrete façade with multi-colored pebbles is all beautiful at the same time ruff and brutal.

At that moment an idea came to her mind. What if you could bring a piece of that beautiful facade and architecture into the apartment? The color of the concrete and stones offers a sense of warmth and harmony that would fit perfectly with plants and greenery. That was how the “Brutal cube” came to life and it was the beginning of “A piece of the arch”.
